In the Spotlight!
Currently in the Reject spotlight is……..John Sullivan, our sound engineer!
John is a professional sound designer and engineer working in theatre and broadcast. He’s got a passion for finding innovative solutions to sound and special effects design particularly under the constraints posed by short runs and challenging budgets! He has designed the sound and special effects for shows including Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Chess, Singing in the Rain, A Bunch of Amateurs, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, The Dumb Waiter, Private Wars, Carmen, Cabaret and Titanic The Musical. Outside of the theatre John was Head of Technology for Classic FM for over 9 years, part of the team that built the BBC’s major facilities in Manchester and Broadcasting House London and earlier in his career was the Chief Engineer at BBC Essex. He has also worked on studio projects for Capital Radio, TalkSPORT and Virgin Radio. John is a member of the Association of Sound Designers, The Institute of Professional Sound, an associate of the Association of Theatre Technicians and a Charted Engineer. John trained in music as chorister at Bristol Cathedral and has also be known to take a role or two on the boards on occasion being, as he is, a great believer in learning and growing in all aspects of theatre craft.
