About Us

The Rejects were originally formed in 1988 by its founding members Stephen Emery, who is now Stephen Moyer and can be seen presently in The Gifted, Barry Hester and Kevin Richards. Bringing a fresh new approach to the theatre they performed to critical acclaim The Long and the Short and The Tall, Bouncers, Twelve Angry Men, Private Wars and The Dumb Waiter amongst others. In the 90s the members pursued their separate careers but recently Kevin and Barry decided to bring the company back to life again. So…. the first of the newly reformed Rejects played a revival of their smash hit Bouncers in August 2017 at The Headgate Theatre, Colchester and again in October 2017 at Zinc Arts Theatre in Chipping Ongar, the Palace Theatre in Westcliff on Sea,  Upstairs at the Gatehouse Highgate, London, and more recently at the Public Hall in Witham, Essex  where once again they received an outstanding review in Theatre Life which can be read here…..

There will be one last chance to see this version of Bouncers at the Brentwood Theatre on 8th and 9th February 2019 – don’t miss it!

As well as the revival of Bouncers the company have recently brought their version of the hilarious play, A Bunch of Amateurs, written by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman,to various local theatres (a sell out in Colchester’s Headgate Theatre)  and the last production of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice played to audiences in Colchester and Brentwood, where it was very well received.

Their latest production of Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti brought the house down at the Headgate Theatre in October 2018 and it is hoped that the Company can bring this to further audiences in the not too distant future.

The Company is currently working on its latest production, the hilarious Shakers, by John Godber and Jane Thornton, which can be seen at the Headgate Theatre next year in May,with One Man Two Guvnors due later in 2019.

Do have a look at the ‘Whats On’ page to see future productions.
